The practical answer. HUAWEI MatePad Air is a strong balanced keyboard-and-stylus candidate for a 12-inch reading-to-writing routine if the required apps work locally. Samsung Galaxy Tab S12+ is the clearest new Android option with a pen included, though its keyboard is a separate selection. Apple iPad Air 11-inch suits a known iPad workflow with separately chosen Pencil and keyboard. Microsoft Surface Pro 12-inch belongs on the list when a compatible Windows program matters more than the lowest bag weight. No responsible answer can call the bare tablet plus a product photo a “complete kit.”

The figures describe bodies, except Huawei's explicitly labelled keyboard mass. They are not a like-for-like complete-kit ranking. “Stylus support” and “stylus included” are different claims. Check the sales listing for each country and storage configuration.

The method behind this shortlist

A pen-and-keyboard kit should finish one connected job: mark a source, turn the marks into a typed explanation, revise with precise selection, then deliver the document. We compared the documented input routes and platform limits against that job. We did not treat an accessory photograph as proof of inclusion or assume that all desktop editing features exist in mobile apps. The best choice changes when the final file, institutional login or specialist software imposes a hard requirement.

MatePad Air: a cohesive mixed-input starting point

The 12-inch canvas makes it easier to keep source material legible as the user adds margin observations. Huawei offers compatible M-Pencil Pro and Smart Magnetic Keyboard routes, with the keyboard itself listed at 308 g. Against the approximately 509 g tablet body, that is an approximately 817 g tablet-and-keyboard subtotal; the pen, charger and case are additional. The specified subtotal gives a buyer a real planning figure for a mobile writing day. It does not prove the whole package weighs less than competing kits.

The software decision comes first. Ask for the exact local bundle, then run a real annotated PDF through the required document or submission app and reopen the exported result. If the job mainly consists of reading, handwriting and routine drafting, Huawei has a persuasive balance. If the critical task depends on an unavailable app or desktop add-in, switch platform rather than claiming the pen solves the problem.

Tab S12+: a pen included in a larger Android package

Samsung's October 2026 Tab S12+ brings a 12.6-inch screen and an S Pen in the box at a quoted 553 g for the Wi-Fi model. That reduces the risk of forgetting to price the pen. Samsung offers two keyboard paths and describes multi-window use, so a reference page, notes and draft can plausibly share the screen. Choose the keyboard according to typing position and total bag contents. The S Pen is explicitly listed without Bluetooth Low Energy support in Samsung's specifications; do not assume remote gesture features from a different S Pen generation. The launch is for selected markets, so verify local stock and accessory compatibility.

iPad Air: compact and familiar, with separate tools

The 11-inch iPad Air M4 weighs 464 g in its Wi-Fi form and supports Pencil Pro and Pencil (USB-C). This kit is a compelling choice when the person already knows exactly which iPad apps handle notes, edits and delivery. It is also a reminder to budget the Pencil and keyboard separately. The 11-inch view may be better for standing use and less generous for dense side-by-side review. Compare the actual screen layout and keyboard feel instead of reducing the decision to the lighter body.

Surface Pro: Windows capability is the reason to carry it

Surface Pro 12-inch is 686 g before its dedicated keyboard and pen. For someone whose final output depends on a supported Windows application, the extra mass may buy the ability to complete rather than merely sketch the work. Check Windows on Arm support for the exact software, add-ins and connected devices. This is not a universal guarantee that every desktop program behaves as expected. If the Windows dependency is absent, the heavier kit needs another clear advantage to justify itself.

The four-step in-store or return-window test

First, annotate a two-column source PDF with the selected pen. Second, type a 500-word response using the chosen keyboard on a desk and on your lap. Third, make a fine selection or correction in the document. Fourth, export and reopen the result in the recipient's software. Record the accessories carried and price paid. This tests the combined system rather than any isolated feature.

Is a keyboard included with Galaxy Tab S12+?

Samsung lists the S Pen as in-box; its Pro Keyboard and Book Cover Keyboard Slim are accessory choices. Confirm the exact regional sales bundle before purchasing.

Can the lightest body lose the kit comparison?

Yes. A pen, keyboard, cover and charger can change bag mass and total cost. Huawei's 817 g tablet-plus-keyboard figure is a two-item subtotal, not an all-in result against the other systems.
